Vernon delivers two hits, Eagles stay unbeaten in league play

DEEP RUN -- Conner Vernon batted 2-for-4 and scored a run as Rosewood doubled up South Lenoir, 10-5, in non-conference play Monday evening.
Ethan Chapin collected a hit, walked twice, stole a season-high three bases and scored twice. Chance Howard doubled and tallied two runs. Nick Neal batted 1-for-2 with a walk.
Neal started on the mound and earned the win. The lanky right-hander yielded two runs on four hits and struck out two Blue Devils. Tucker Chapin tossed one inning and Boone Moody closed it out with an inning of one-hit, scoreless relief.
The Eagles step back into Carolina 1-A Conference play today at North Duplin. Game time is 6:30 p.m. Rosewood is one of four unbeaten teams in league play along with 2015 regular-season champ Spring Creek, North Duplin and Princeton.
