* Softball: Cape Fear Christian 17-17, Wayne Christian 6-3 -- Brianne Verme took the mound loss in the opener for WCS. Teammate Grace Bailey started inside the pitcher's circle in game two. The Eagles (0-3 overall) visit Falls Lake Academy on Friday.
* Baseball: Wayne Country Day 10, Lawrence Academy 3 -- DJ Drew paced the Chargers' offense with three hits and collected four stolen bases. Carns Edmundson contributed two hits.
* Girls' soccer: Wayne Country Day 0, Neuse Christian 0 -- Wayne Country Day played Neuse Christian to a 0-0, non-conference draw on Thursday afternoon.
* Girls' soccer: Goldsboro 3, North Johnston 1 -- Ta'Nia Williams, Julisa Rubio and Tziah Kelly each knocked in a goal during the Cougars' road win Thursday afternoon. Goalkeeper Keturah Artis had 11 saves between the pipes for GHS. The teams play again Tuesday at Goldsboro.
Middle schools
* Girls' soccer: Norwayne 7, Rosewood 0 -- Haley Martin recorded a hat trick (three goals) during the Cobras' shutout win over the Eagles on Thursday afternoon. Lydia Butler punched in two goals. Colleen Jones contributed one goal and two assists. Emma Maurera knocked in one goal. Brylee Sauls, Morgan Quinn and Ciera Hickman each dished out one assist. NW goalie Katie Parrish logged three saves. The Cobras (4-0-0 overall) entertain Mount Olive next Monday.
