Gators break away from Neuse Charter in 2nd inning

SMITHFIELD -- Defending Carolina 1-A Conference champion Spring Creek exploded for eight second-inning runs and cruised past Neuse Charter, 13-1, in five innings on Tuesday afternoon.
Hunter Walker paced the Gators' 13-hit attack with two hits and an RBI. Levi Miller (RBI), Spencer Jameson (RBI), Sawyer Smith (two RBI), Josh Lebron (RBI), Will Rouse (two RBI), Scott Edmundson (RBI), Jordan Ammons (RBI), Matt Dupuy and Landon Smothers (RBI) posted one hit apiece.
SC's entire roster saw playing time against the Cougars.
Walker, Smothers and Austin Reynolds combined for a one-hitter and nine strikeouts on the bump.
