PREPS DIGEST: Wallace, Paynter compete in state 3A wrestling meet

GREENSBORO -- East 3-A regional champion Joshua Wallace just missed finishing among the top six during the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A individual wrestling championships.
Wallace, a junior at Charles B. Aycock, opened the tournament a third-period fall over Kings Mountain's Cameron Morgan in the 170-pound weight class. Wallace fell into the consolation bracket with a quarterfinal-round loss.
Wallace (54-6 overall) eliminated St. Stephens' Tucker Justice, but endured a season-ending defeat to Jonathan Lyerly.
Senior Jaret Paynter dropped matches against Thomasville Ledford's Ben Fox and Kings Mountain's Chance Frederick. He ended the year 35-9 overall.
