SC girls advance to Carolina 1A semifinals

SALEMBURG -- Spring Creek turned back Princeton, 59-28, on day one of the 2016 Carolina 1-A Conference tournament contested at Lakewood HS on Tuesday evening.
Tyesha Teachey logged her 10th double-double of the season -- 16 points, 10 rebounds. She also picked the Bulldogs for four steals and blocked two shots.
Destiney Sutton returned to the lineup and just missed a double-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and six steals. Amber Buchan contributed 18 points and four steals.
Ashley Marriner provided 12 points, four assists and six steals.
Emily Ricks posted eight points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs. Teammate Jazmaine McCain supplied eight points and eight rebounds.
The third-seeded Gators (12-12 overall) face second-seeded Lakewood in the semifinals on Thursday. SC has clinched an automatic berth to the NCHSAA playoffs with fourth-year head coach Charlie Cotten.
