Area indoor track athletes compete in state finals

WINSTON-SALEM - Eastern Wayne senior Fiona Pedrick posted a pair of top-12 finishes during the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A indoor track and field championship meet.
Pedrick claimed 10th in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 36.4 seconds. She took 12th in the 3,200 in 12:16.3.
Charles B. Aycock's Cyerra Carter logged a fifth-place mark of 5 feet, 2 inches in the high jump.
Fellow Golden Falcon Trevor Holt claimed ninth in the shot put (44.05).
On the 1-A side, Princeton's Shae Malham seized the silver medal in the pole vault with a height of 7-6.
Rosewood's Alex Godwin earned ninth in the triple jump (40-8). The Eagles' foursome of Devonte Phillips, Dalton Farmer, Godwin and Montonio Wheeler grabbed 17th overall in the 800 relay.
Princeton's quartet of Nick Hare, Jamie Pearce, Earl Gibson Jr. and Jarrett Pearce recorded a 13th-place time of 1:40.23 in the 800 relay. Gibson Jr. was 14th overall in the long jump (18-2.25).
Austin Sullivan was eighth in the 1,600 with a time of 4:45.78. Teammate Jose Moreno crossed the line 18 in the 1,000 in 3:06.07.
