Payton leads Rebels past Gators

CALYPSO -- North Duplin grabbed a 13-point lead by halftime and cruised past Spring Creek, 69-60, in the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season finale for both teams Thursday evening.
JP Payton collected 18 points for the Rebels. Luke Britt registered 10 points. Malik Cobb, Travaye Darden and Terrion Addison supplied nine points apiece.
Chase King (six points), Dexter Morrisey (five points) and Schmid Romeus (three points) also scratched in the scorebook.
Dominique Morse and Jamarion Dawson each collected 13 points for Spring Creek. Teammate Najee Young chipped in 11 points.
The teams return to action next Tuesday in the season-ending conference tournament. First-round pairings have not been announced.
