UMO: Trojan basketball teams sweep Lees-McRae

MOUNT OLIVE -- University of Mount Olive erupted for 28 third-quarter points and dominated in-state foe Lees-McRae, 83-57, on the Conference Carolinas women's basketball scene Tuesday evening.
Arieal Johnson paced the Trojan women with 18 points and nine rebounds. Jada Bacchus contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Anamaric Zjacic logged seven points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in a reserve role.
Division I transfer Felicity Havens posted seven points and four rebounds.
The Trojan women dished out 21 team assists on 32 field goals, controlled the boards 41-30 and outscored the Bobcats 50-22 in the paint.
Mount Olive (12-10 overall, 10-6 CC) travels to Erskine on Saturday.
Men's basketball
MOUNT OLIVE -- John Wieland and Michael Moore pumped in 17 points apiece during University of Mount Olive's 100-79 thrashing of in-state Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae on Tuesday evening.
Dominique Reed scored 16 points. Ja'Quan Blount had 12 points, followed by Dontrell Brite with 11 points and Jacque Brown with 10. Jamaal Matin pulled down nine rebounds, while Blount and Myke Hart wiped the glass for six rebounds apiece.
Moore collected five rebounds.
As a team, UMO handed out 21 assists on 33 made field goals and shot 50 percent from the floor.
The Trojans (14-9 overall, 9-6 CC) are the guests of Erskine on Saturday.
