PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools news

JV

* Boys' basketball: James Kenan 55, Spring Creek 47 -- Allen Hickman led the Gators' offense with 19 points. Alan Hickman contributed 15 points.

* Girls' basketball: C.B. Aycock 25, J.H. Rose 18 -- Freshman Kania Slocum emerged as the Golden Falcons' top scorer with nine points. Morgan Casey, a freshman, scored eight points. Fellow freshman Taylor Gay had six points.

* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 33, J.H. Rose 27 -- Sophomore Damone Greenfield poured in a team-high 15 points during the Golden Falcons' final home game of the season. Sophomore Tayquan Hampton scored seven points. Marquez Farmer (four points), Jordan Woodard (three points), Muhammad Brooks (two points) and Matthew Wildman (two points) also scratched in the scoring column for CBA.

* Girls' basketball: Goldsboro 92, Ayden-Grifton 82 -- Aaron Smith emerged as one of five Cougars in double figures with 16 points Tuesday afternoon. Damien Brown and De'Quan Pigford each scored 14 points. Jarrod Scott and Keyshorn Smith supplied 13 points apiece. Goldsboro concludes regular-season play at home Friday against Greene Central. Tip-off is 4:30 p.m.

Middle schools

* Girls' basketball: Greenwood 32, Grantham 30 -- Aleesha Boyette emerged as the T-Birds' offensive leader with 16 points. Teammate Rachel Babbit recorded six points. Greenwood concluded the year 12-1 overall. Alissa Meadows led Grantham with 16 points. Teammates Morgan Kennedy and Kylie Bunch each had six points. The Bulldogs finished the year 4-9 overall.

* Boys' basketball: Greenwood 59, Grantham 15 -- JB Rhodes dropped in a team-high 17 points in the T-Birds' regular-season finale. Dezhar Sutton contributed 12 points. Greenwood ended the year with an 11-2 worksheet.

* Boys' basketball: South Wake 42, Goldsboro Heat 17 -- Simon Hibbard, Luke Parks, Seth Daniels and Ben Daniels scored four points apiece in the Heat's loss. Parks blocked four shots, while Daniels snared nine rebounds and handed out three assists. Goldsboro (5-5 overall) finishes regular-season play at home Friday against East Wake.

* Boys' basketball: Rosewood 52, Wayne School of Engineering 15 -- Townsend Tripple pumped in a team- and game-high 14 points in the Eagles' regular-season finale. Davien Thompson and Trent Lancaster supplied seven points apiece. Logan Mitchell and Logan Merritt tallied six and five points, respectively. Rosewood ended the year 7-6 overall.
