PREPS DIGEST: JV, middle schools

* Girls' basketball: J.H. Rose 42, Southern Wayne 30 -- Macayah Moore paced the Saints' offense with 10 points. Southern Wayne (10-3 overall) dropped to 1-2 in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play this season, and travels D.H. Conley on Friday.

* Boys' basketball: Durham Flight d. Goldsboro Heat (OT) -- Christian Yarbrough paced the Heat with 15 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists. Harman Kaler added 13 points and nine rebounds. Luke Parks contributed 10 rebounds and three blocked shots.

* Boys' basketball: C.B. Aycock 28, D.H. Conley 25 -- Sophomore Marquez Farmer pumped in a team-leading 10 points in the Golden Falcons' home win. Sophomore Muhammad Brooks contributed six points.

* Girls' basketball: D.H. Conley 21, C.B. Aycock 18 -- Freshmen Sharon Moorefield and Taylor Gay scored six points apiece in the Golden Falcons' loss. Morgan Casey and Kania Slocum added four and two points, respectively.

* Girls' basketball: Wayne Country Day 44, Neuse Christian 36 -- Lexi Jeffreys paced the unbeaten Chargers with 22 points. Langley Barnes chipped in 15. WCDS (7-0 overall) travels to Lawrence Academy on Thursday.

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 61, Neuse Christian 50 -- Marcus Metcalf paced the Chargers' offensive attack with 21 points. Jack Talton added 10 points. Case Kermode and Will Rose pumped in nine points apiece. The Chargers (9-2) entertain DASH Homeschool on Friday.

Middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Neuse Christian 56, Wayne Country Day 22 -- Tanner Willman and Joey Democko scored five points apiece in the Chargers' non-conference road loss.
