PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock won just two individual matches against New Bern and sustained some key injuries against South Central in an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A tri-meet contested Wednesday evening.
Cody Grenier pinned his respective opponent at 160 pounds and CBA drew a forfeit at 182 pounds in a 46-12 loss to New Bern. Jaret Paynter (195 pounds) and heavyweight Randy Floars each endured an injury that forced them to default in a 54-25 triumph over South Central.
Josh Wallace (32-1 overall), Grenier, Austin Doyle, Chris Parks, Hayden Gurley, Tyler Marquard, Zack Creel and Chase Hapes each emerged victorious against SC.
"Even with the win against South Central, the injuries are a concern," Golden Falcons head coach RJ Allen said. "We wrestled hard tonight, but things just did not go our way. We have had a great run lately, so this loss (to New Bern) will help us refocus and work even harder going into this weekend's Firebird Duals."
Aycock is 16-8 overall this season.
