Chargers compete in 6-team swim meet

NEW BERN -- The Wayne Country Day boys and girls each placed third during a six-team meet contested at the Twin Rivers YMCA on Friday.
Zander Pittman claimed two individual wins -- the 50-yard freestyle (25.19 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.77). He swam the third leg on the Chargers' 200 medley relay that posted a runner-up time of 2:08.96.
Joining Pittman were Charlie Dees, Nathan Rigdon and anchor leg Daniel Covert. The same foursome touched the wall second in the 200 free relay in 1:53.5.

GIRLS
200 medley relay -- 4 (Abby Skinner, Grace O'Daniel, Laurel Hinson, Allison Bailey), 2:32.85; 50 free -- 9. Skinner, 33.00; 100 butterfly -- 2. O'Daniel, 1:29.54; 100 free -- 10. O'Daniel, 1:12.74; 200 free relay -- 2. (Bailey, Hinson, Skinner, O'Daniel), 2:14.9; 100 back -- 5. Skinner, 1:29.38; 100 breaststroke -- 11. Nancy Chen, 2:06.73.
BOYS
200 free -- 6. Covert, 2:35.26; 100 free -- 6. Rigdon, 1:03.73; 100 back -- 8. Dees, 1:26.15; 100 breaststroke -- 3. Rigdon, 1:19.66.
