* Girls' basketball: Wayne Country Day 44, Oakwood 4 -- Lexi Jeffreys pumped in a game-high 17 points for the visiting Chargers. Teammates Summer Daniels and Janae Jones contributed six points apiece.
* Boys' basketball: Wayne Country Day 66, Oakwood 34 -- Marcus Metcalf paced WCDS with 17 points. Nick Fletcher knocked down 10 points, followed by Will Rose with nine. The Chargers (2-0 overall) play host to Halifax Academy today.
* Boys' basketball: Durham Cresset Christian 57, Wayne Christian 53 -- Jaxon Anderson recorded 17 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals during the Eagles' Carolina Christian 1-A Conference opener Tuesday afternoon. Jaydon Young contributed 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals. Logan Jackson just missed a double-double with 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. Will White provided seven points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Middle schools
* Boys' basketball: Oakwood 24, Wayne Country Day 20 -- Nehemiya Shaw and Joey Democko collected seven and four points, respectively, in the Chargers' road loss Tuesday afternoon.
