* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. North East Carolina Prep -- 25-22, 25-10 -- Katie Strickland dished out six assists and collected three aces. Cate Eagles had six assists, one kill and two aces. Madison Britton (three kills, three digs), Lexi Jeffreys (three kills), Graysen Jeffreys (two kills) and Summer Daniels (three kills) helped the Chargers claim the road win. Wayne Country Day (8-9 overall) continue play Friday in the season-ending Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference tournament.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. North East Carolina Prep 25-16, 25-15 -- Katie Strickland led the Chargers with five service aces, two kills and two digs. Lexi Jeffreys (three aces, four kills), Summer Daniels (three aces, five kills), Cate Eagles (two aces, two digs) and Graysen Jeffreys (two kills) also contributed to the straight-set win. The Chargers concluded the season 10-1 overall.
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Norwayne 26-24, 25-15, 24-26, 25-27, 15-6 -- Virginia Edmondson and Amanda Haggerty combined for three blocks during the Gators' five-set win. Alissa Price, Emily Dupuy and Kloie Jordan helped SC's cause on offense. The Gators (11-1 overall, 6-1 Wayne County Middle Schools Athletic Conference Division I) visit Eastern Wayne on Wednesday.
