MOUNT OLIVE -- Ivan Malagon supplied the "golden goal" in the 106th minute as second-year Conference Carolinas member Southern Wesleyan University stunned University of Mount Olive, 1-0, in double overtime on Sunday afternoon.
Sebastian Castro logged the assist.
The Trojans attempted 12 shots during regulation, but came up empty. Malick Chune and Trevor Knight had UMO's best scoring opportunities within a seven-second stretch in the opening half, however SWU keeper Ruben Rodriguez deflected both shots.
UMO keeper Nick Bernsdorf logged four saves in goal. Teammate Sean Lockett denied SWU a one-on-one scoring opportunity with a defensive takeaway late in the first half.
The Trojans (7-4-0 overall, 5-2-0 CC) entertain Southeast Region foe Francis Marion (S.C.) University on Tuesday. Kickoff is 4 p.m. at Amon Field.
