Gators, Wildcats scrap in the mud

NEWTON GROVE -- Hobbton reeled off 21 consecutive points over the final quarters and handed Carolina 1-A Conference foe Spring Creek a 33-8 loss on a muddy, drizzly Monday evening.
"Just a tough night," SC head coach Aaron Sanders said. "We struggled to get them off the field all nght. The field was in bad shape, but we missed a lot of opportunities to capitalize."
Jessie Casper's 34-yard touchdown pass to Najee Young accounted for the Gators' lone score of the night. The scoring play trimmed the Wildcats' advantage to 12-8 with 40 seconds left in the opening quarter.
Raekwon Bryant scored three touchdowns for Hobbton, which improved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 against league opposition this season. Bryant's runs covered 4, 13 and 6 yards. He finished with a team- and game-high 137 yards on 14 totes.
Backfield mate Omar Farrior rambled for a 12-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown. Steven Bell contributed 84 yards on the ground. Josh Polk provided a two-yard TD in the second quarter.
Individual statistics were not available for the Gators.
