Mother Nature has postponed one football game.
Weather permitting, three county teams will see action on the gridiron tonight despite heavy/misty rainfall that's plagued eastern North Carolina over the past 72 hours.
New Bern was scheduled to visit Eastern Wayne today. However, due to flooding concerns, Craven County Schools will not operate today and all after-school activities have been cancelled.
EW head coach Phil Gray said Sunday evening that parts of the field were under water, which rendered conditions unplayable. The teams will play next Monday.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. in New Hope.
Charles B. Aycock (2-3 overall) plans to host a "White Out" night against county and Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference rival Southern Wayne today at Hardy Talton Stadium. Kickoff is 6 p.m. The Golden Falcons have won three straight against the Saints, who lead the all-time series 21-12-1.
Hobbton still plans to celebrate homecoming tonight when the Wildcats welcome Carolina 1-A Conference foe Spring Creek to Newton Grove. The teams have split their last two meetings in the series by identical scores of 22-21.
Kickoff is 7 p.m.
Princeton athletics director Marty Gurganus announced this morning that today's soccer game against Carolina 1-A Conference leader James Kenan has been postponed until Oct. 27. Kickoff is 5 p.m.
