PREPS DIGEST -- JV, middle schools

* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 3, Wilmington Christian Academy 3 -- Nehamyia Shaw punched in two goals off of assists from Frank Best and DJ Drew. Drew Barnes tallied the Chargers' third goal off an assist from Marquise Newell. WCDS (6-0-1 overall) plays host to Wilson Christian today.

* Girls' tennis: Rocky Mount Academy 5, Wayne Country Day 4 -- Nancy Chen, Hanna McKeithan and Martie Rose each won a pro-set (eight-game) singles match for the Chargers. Rose-Nancy Stanley claimed the lone doubles point. "(A) tough fought match came down to a tie-breaker and unfortunately we weren't able to pull it off, but a great effort from the girls today," WCDS head coach Nate Buechler said. The Chargers (0-4 overall) play host to Parrott Academy on Sept. 22.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Spring Creek 25-18, 20-25, 9-25, 25-12, 15-7 -- Norwayne remained unbeaten in three matches this year. Spring Creek suffered its first loss of the season. It was the Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference Division I opener for both teams.

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Eastern Wayne 25-4, 25-21, 17-25, 25-14 -- Alyssa Smothers served a season-high 10 aces for the Eagles. Rosewood (2-1 overall) plays host to Norwayne on Thursday.
