Emily Newsome dished out 14 assists and Naheria Hamilton collected six blocks during Eastern Wayne's 25-13, 25-8, 25-22 loss to defending 4-A state champion J.H. Rose on Tuesday afternoon.
Chelsea Wynn had two kills and two blocks.
"(The) girls started out a little bit intimidated, but never gave up ... played very well in the third set," EW head coach Jackie Lewis said. "Tips and lack of defense (moving feet to ball played a big factor in the outcome). Saw lots of positives at the net with blocks and playing smarter offense."
