Warriors' Pedrick wins 2nd ECC cross country meet of season

WINTERVILLE -- Eastern Wayne's Fiona Pedrick emerged as the top female runner during an Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference meet ran at Boyd Lee Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Pedrick ran the 5k course in 20 minutes, 22 seconds.

Charles B. Aycock's Sara Price placed 21st overall in 24:55. Southern Wayne's Nadia Chesnutt crossed the line behind Price in 25:08.22. The Golden Falcons' Mackenzie Stewart took 23rd in 25:12.8.

South Central took first in the team portion with 38 points -- 13 lower than New Bern. D.H. Conley (59) ended up third, followed by J.H. Rose (119), Aycock (139), Southern Wayne (166) and Eastern Wayne (173).

On the boys' side, Aycock's Joseph Mooneyham grabbed third place with a time of 18:08.43, while teammate John Parrish turned in a personal-best time of 19:51. Southern Wayne's Cole Atwood turned in a fifth-place time of 19:26.18.

EW freshman Rudy Spears claimed 10th in 19:57.35.

New Bern won the meet with 32 points, followed by Aycock (55) and J.H. Rose (88). D.H. Conley (109 points), South Central (117), Southern Wayne (148) and Eastern Wayne (176) rounded out the seven-team field.
