* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Wilson Beddingfield 25-13, 25-16 -- Freshman Katy Price led the Golden Falcons' offense with five kills. Daelyn Brock contributed four kills. Kaniyah Slocum, Hannah Carter and Taliyah Green posted two kills apiece. Brock also served a team-high eight aces and had eight digs. Carter dished out nine assists. Taylor Gay emerged CBA's top defensive player with 10 digs.
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day d. Halifax Academy 25-20, 25-14 -- Kyara Drew served a team-high nine aces to go along with one kill and three digs. Graysen Jeffreys and Madison Britton combined for six aces and two kills. Cate Eagles had three kills and two assists. Katie Strickland contributed one ace and three assists. The Chargers (2-5 overall) visit Cape Fear Academy on Friday.
* Volleyball: Princeton d. Hobbton 25-22, 25-11 -- Princeton (5-3 overall) remained unbeaten in three Carolina 1-A Conference outings this season.
* Volleyball: North Johnston d. Goldsboro 25-16, 25-16 -- The Cougars return home to face Wilson Beddingfield today.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Rosewood 25-22, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21 -- Emily Dupuy and Virginia Edmundson emerged as the Gators' top players in a four-set win over the Eagles on Wednesday. Rylee Myers had six aces and two kills for Rosewood. Spring Creek (2-0 overall) plays host to Norwayne next Monday. The Eagles (1-1) entertain Eastern Wayne the same afternoon.
* Soccer: Eastern Wayne 5, Mount Olive 0 -- Makayah Williams scored two goals and A. Dove added one goal and one assist during the Warriors' season-opening win Wednesday. Alex Thomas and Gabriel Lee scored one goal apiece. Eastern Wayne (1-0-0 overall) visits Rosewood on Monday, while Mount Olive (1-1-0) travels to Greenwood.
