Defending state champ sweeps Southern Wayne in straight sets

DUDLEY -- Defending 4-A state champion J.H. Rose handed Southern Wayne a 25-10, 25-16, 25-11 defeat in Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference play Thursday afternoon.
First-year Saints head coach Sarah Robertson cited the solid play of Malia McKay, Kaitlyne Williams, Amber Pfennig, Macayla Tyndall and Faith Gurley.
Southern Wayne travels to D.H. Conley next Tuesday.
