CALYPSO -- Dario Castenada collected the game-winning goal in the 34th minute as North Duplin earned a weather-shortened 3-1 victory over perennial Coastal Plains 1-A power Lejeune at H.E. Grubbs Field.
Officials called the game 2 minutes into the second half due to heavy rain.
The Rebels' Wilber Velasquez scored 90 seconds after kickoff on an assist from Castenada. Juan Garcia connected in the 17th minute and assisted on Castenada's goal just before intermission.
The Devilpups (0-2-0 overall) scored in the 41st minute.
North Duplin (2-0-0) travels to county rival Wallace-Rose Hill, which won the state 1-A championship in 2013, on Thursday.
