Pittman leads boys, Neilsen leads girls as WCDS sweeps meet

Wayne Country Day's Xan Pittman and Hayden Neilsen emerged as the individual boys' and girls' winner, respectively, during a multi-team meet contested at historic Waynesborough Park.
Pittman ran the 5k course in 21 minutes, 55 seconds. Teammate Case Kermode ended up second in 22:25, while Connor Shaw placed fifth in 25:30.
Thomas Donica paced Wayne Christian with a fourth-place time of 24:53. Fellow Eagles Eli Winders (25:45) and Noah O'Hara (25:47) crossed the finish line in sixth and seventh, respectively.
WCDS won the meet with 8 points, followed by Wayne Christian (17 points), Lee Christian (28) and Grace Christian (32).
Neilsen toured the winding trek with a first-place time of 26:40 -- nearly a minute faster than teammate and runner-up, Abby Skinner (27:33). The Chargers' Jawen Jones (30:00) and Jasmine Jones (30:01) posted times good enough for sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Wayne Christiain's lone runner, Paige Court, took 12th overall in 32:37.
WCDS emerged as the lowest-scoring team with nine points. Cornerstone Christian (20), Grace Christian (21) and Lee Christian (41) rounded out the field.
