WARSAW -- Sophomore Jack Casbarro accounted for Southern Wayne's lone touchdown in a 56-6, season-opening loss at perennial Class 1-A juggernaut James Kenan on Friday evening.

Casbarro hauled in a 28-yard scoring strike from quarterback Aryc Chrisman in the second quarter. Manny Walker's 19-yard run set up the touchdown.

Chrisman, in his first-ever varsity start, completed seven passes for 73 yards. Casbarro finished with 66 yards on five catches. Ronnie Thompson had two receptions for six yards. Walker had one catch for one yard.

Walker led the Saints' ground game with 62 yards.

"First game of the year and we have a lot to take from it both positive and negative," SW head coach David Lee said. "Our kids played hard on both sides of the ball and us coaches are proud of them for that, but turnovers and big plays in their passing game hurt us in second quarter and we allowed the game to get away from us a little.

"The good thing is our mistakes are correctable and we will get back to work come Monday."

The Saints (0-1 overall) return to action Sept. 4 at Goldsboro.
