Preps digest: JV sports, middle schools

JV sports
* Volleyball: North Lenoir d. Southern Wayne 25-11, 25-23 -- The Hawks scored 11 points with Kelsie Stocks on serve, and eight with Jlesa Sauls at the line. It was North Lenoir's first win in three outings this season.
* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 3, Oakwood 0 -- Drew Barnes recorded a goal and an assist in the Chargers' road win. Marquise Newell and DJ Drew tallied one goal apiece. Nathan Rigdon and Cam Gerrard each had one assist.
* Volleyball: Oakwood d. Wayne Country Day 25-14, 25-18 -- Kyara Drew led the Chargers with one ace, two kills and one dig. Cate Eagles and Madison Britton each had one dig. Katie Strickland had one dig and one assist. The Chargers (1-1 overall) visit Lawrence Academy on Aug. 28.
Middle schools
* Volleyball: Wayne Christian d. Greenfield 25-21, 21-25, 26-24 -- Wayne Christian rallied from a 24-21 third-set deficit to claim the road win over the Knights. Payton Jackson closed out the comeback with five straight points on serve. The Eagles (1-0 overall) entertain Cape Fear Christian on Aug. 31.
* Volleyball: Wayne Country Day 25-20, 25-7 -- Lexi Jeffreys served seven aces and collected one kill. Katie Strickland had five aces and one assist. Cate Eagles recorded six aces, while Summer Daniels contributed two kills. The Chargers play host to Community Christian next Tuesday.
