Three county athletes have received one more prep accolade before they each step onto their respective college campuses in just a few days.

Bobby Hampton, Chad Spurgeon and Allen Coor each earned spots on the 2015 N.C. Coaches Association All-State baseball team. Hampton is on the Class 3-A roster, while Spurgeon and Coor are on the 1-A squad.

"Bobby had the individual numbers for All-State, but the most important stat is that he is a winner, competitor and team player," CBA head coach Charles Davis said. "(I'm) very happy for him and (he's) very deserving."

A utility player, Hampton helped lead the Golden Falcons to 23 wins and a runner-up spot in the 2015 N.C. High School Athletic Association state championship series. It was Aycock's second trip since 2012 and fourth overall in program history.

Hampton ended his career with a 1.13 earned run average in 191-plus innings. The left-hander recorded 287 strikeouts and held opposing teams to a .170 batting average.

At the plate, Hampton batted .328 with 99 hits and 46 RBI for his career. He signed a national letter-of-intent to play at Appalachian State this season.

Coming off a program-best, 18-win campaign in 2014, Spring Creek reached new heights this spring. The Gators emerged as the 2015 Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season champs for the first time since 2004, and just the second time overall in school history.

As if that wasn't enough. Spurgeon and Coor helped take SC to the eastern regional semifinals in the playoffs -- another first in school history. The Gators lost out to eventual state champion Whiteville.

Spurgeon knocked the cover off of the ball, hitting .474 and driving in 23 runs. He batted .389 for his career with a .509 on-base percentage.

Coor, who signed with Limestone (S.C.) College, battled through a torn labrum for most of the season. One of the county's top players, he hit a team-high .515 with 35 hits and 24 RBI.

SC won a total of 47 games in three years with Coor and Spurgeon on the field.

"I'm really happy for Chad and Allen," SC head coach Heath Whitfield said. "It's really icing on the cake after four great years and a lot of hard work for them. It's a great accomplishment, especially since they're only 18 on the (All-State) team from each classification in the state."
