HIGH POINT -- The NCAA Division II membership committee announced that Southern Wesleyan University and Emmanuel (Ga.) College have each moved, respectively, to its next phase of membership in Conference Carolinas.
Southern Wesleyan will compete in its third year of the membership process during the 2015-16 academic year. It's the final season of provisional competition for Southern Wesleyan, which anticipates gaining full NCAA Division II membership beginning in the fall of 2016.
At that point, Southern Wesleyan will become eligible for postseason competition at both the Conference Carolinas and NCAAlevels.
The committee recommended that Emmanuel advance to its second provisional year for D-2 candidacy in 2016-17. The school's target date for full membership is 2017-18, which would make the school -- like Southern Wesleyan -- eligible for postseason play in Conference Carolinas and the NCAA.
