Trojans' Bub earns All-America accolades

MOUNT OLIVE -- University of Mount Olive student-athlete Edgar Bub earned a spot on the 2015 Capital One/CoSIDA Division II men's at-large Academic All-American first team.

Bub is the first-ever men's tennis player recipient and the 10th Trojan overall in program history to receive the award. The senior from Germany graduated in May with 3.93 grade-point average (GPA) with a double major in business management and human resource management.

During this year's graduation ceremony, Bub won the prestigious Lorelle Martin Award, which goes to the graduating student with continuous enrollment at UMO with the highest GPA.

A two-time Conference Carolinas men's tennis scholar athlete-of-the-year, Bub helped guide the Trojans to three league tournament championships and three trips to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regionals. He was named MVP of the Conference Carolinas men's tennis tournament both his junior and senior campaigns.

Bub was a four-time all-Conference Carolinas selection.

Nunns was a two-time at-large selection in 2011 and 2012. Jackson, whose jersey is retired in Kornegay Arena, was a two-time pick in 2008 and 2009.

Baseball

MOUNT OLIVE -- Three University of Mount Olive players -- 13th-round Major League Draft pick Jason Morozowski, Gunnar Kines and Justin Manning each earned All-State College first-eam recogntion by the 2015 N.C. Collegiate Sports Information Association.

Morozowski garnered All-American honors from three publications -- the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), Daktronics (CoSIDA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCWBA). On Wednesday, the Florida Internationl University transfer was selected 376th overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Named the Conference Carolinas baseball player-of-the-year, Morozowski just missed winning the league's "Triple Crown) with 21 home runs, 82 RBI and a second-best .424 batting. Nationally, Morozowski ranked third in RBI and eighth in HRs.

Kines, a Myrtle Beach, S.C. native, was an honorable mention pick by NCBWA. The left-hand was chosen as the Conference Carolinas pitcher-of-the-year after he compiled a 9-2 record and 3.26 earned run average on the mound. He ranked third nationally with 121 strikeouts.

Manning, who hails from Apex, garnered recognition on the NCWBA Division II All-Southeast Region team and all-Conference Carolinas first team. The transfer from UNC Wilmington batted .400 with 57 RBI and 54 runs scored.

UMO concluded the year 39-16 overall and placed third in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
