Wayne Country Day 11, Greene Central 7
* SNOW HILL -- Mitch Turnage, Hunter Burt, Hayden Amodeo and Ethan Chapin cranked out two hits apiece during Wayne Country Day's 11-7 triumph over Greene Central in Eastern Carolina Baseball League play Thursday afternoon.
Turnage doubled, tripled and plated a run. Burt doubled with an RBI, while Chapin knocked in two runs.
John Strickland (two RBI), Nick Neal (RBI), Zach Barfield (two RBI), Drew Barnes (RBI), Jaxon Anderson and Cole Brewer provided one hit apiece.
Strickland earned the mound win. He yielded seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits, three walks and sat down nine GC batters on strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
Turnage earned the save.
Wayne Country Day (2-1 overall) plays host to Wilson Christian on Monday.
North Lenoir 4,
Spring Creek 0
* SEVEN SPRINGS -- Kaden Geelen connected on a pair of hits during Spring Creek's 4-0 loss to North Lenoir in an Eastern Carolina Baseball League contest.
Matt Dupuy also doubled for the Gators.
Hunter Walker endured mound loss.
It was the Gators' season opener.

* The 11th annual Ladies Invitiational, part of the 50th anniversary of Walnut Creek Country Club, had 35 participants from various clubs emerge victorious during the event.
Golfers represented WCCC, Lane Tree, Three Eagles Golf Course (Seymour Johnson AFB), Asheville CC, Carolina Trace, Falling Creek, Harbour Point, Minnesott, Morehead City CC, North Shore, Pine Valley, River Landing, River Ridge, Star Hill, Taberna and Wilmington CC.
