Saints defeat Bears on walk-off single

DUDLEY -- Southern Wayne finally put a "1" on the winning side of its Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference ledger Wednesday evening.
Tyler Brock delivered the game-winning, walk-off single as the Saints upended New Bern, 7-6, in a nine-inning affair contested at the Doyle Whitfield Athletic Complex.
Josh Jernigan emerged as the winning pitcher.
Weather permitting, Southern Wayne (4-15 overall, 1-8 ECC) entertains J.H. Rose today.
