Gators' Smith tosses complete game against Bulldogs

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Sawyer Smith threw a complete game and drove in three runs on two hits to lead Spring Creek past Carolina 1-A foe Princeton 13-3 in a six-inning, mercy-rule affair on Tuesday.
Smith and Hunter Walker each had a double for the Gators' only extra-base hits. Chad Spurgeon had two hits and drove in three runs.
Smith allowed three runs in the first two innings, but settled down and held Princeton scoreless from there on out.
Matt Daughtry and Alex Hickman each had two hits for Princeton to lead an eight-hit attack. Daughtry endured the loss on the mound. A trio of Bulldogs combined to walk 10 Spring Creek batters.
The Gators (10-5 overall, 9-1 CC) travel to Rosewood on Friday, while Princeton (11-8, 8-3) plays host to North Duplin the same day.
