Trio of UMO competitors set school records

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Four members of the University of Mount Olive's outdoor track team set new school records during the Christopher Newport Invitational.

Jacob Urys broke the 800-meter record with a time of 1 minute, 53.44 seconds. Franz Beyer emerged as the program's new pole vault record-holder with a mark of 3.95 meters.

Angus Sinclair logged two new school records in the decathlon -- total points (6,698) and high jump (2.02 meters). Sinclair currently sits in ninth place among all Division II competitors in the decathlon.

Michael Munoz became an NCAA provisional qualifier with a time of 9:19.63 in the steeplchase. Kelsey Valentine finished the same event in 11:50.41.

The Trojans return to action in the season-ending Conference Carolinas outdoor track and field championship meet at Lees-McRae.
