DUDLEY -- Taylor Waddell and Allison Shingleton combined for a one-hitter inside the pitcher's circle during C.B. Aycock's 12-0, mercy-rule conquest of Southern Wayne on Friday evening.
Waddell retired five of the nine batters she faced on strikeouts during a three-inning stint. Shingleton permitted one hit -- a single by Kelsey Hayes, in the final two innings.
Mackenzie Wheeler doubled and tripled, and plated three runs for Aycock. Michaela Thompson batted 2-for-3 with an RBI. Cassandra Lassiter, Georgia Parnell and Waddell each provided an extra-base hit.
The Golden Falcons (7-6 overall) rose to 5-2 against Eastern Carolina 3-A/4-A Conference opposition this season. Weather permitting, they play at home Monday against New Bern.
