* Baseball: Wayne Country Day 17, Wayne Christian 0 -- Jack Talton threw a one-hit shutout as the Chargers earned a mercy-rule win Thursday afternoon. Ryan Hope had three hits for the Chargers and Nick Fletcher contributed two hits. Wayne Country Day improved to 3-1 on the season.
Middle schools
* Softball: Freedom Christian 21, Wayne Christian 9 -- Freedom Christian beat Wayne Christian in six innings on Thursday. Leah Boswell had three hits for the Eagles including a triple.
* Softball: Wayne School of Engineering 19, Norwayne 3 -- Riley Howell cranked out four hits for the Titans, who remained unbeaten in four outings this season. Addie Shirley and Nikki Olmstead had three hits apiece. Abby Allen, Dakota Jones and Taylor Lane each supplied two hits. Marcy Taylor emerged as the winning pitcher. WSE entertains Grantham on Apr. 13.
