RALEIGH -- For the second straight year, Rosewood's Lexi Mercer earned a spot on the Associated Press All-State women's high school basketball team.
Mercer, a junior, helped lead the Eagles to their second consecutive runner-up appearance in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 1-A state playoffs. She averaged 25.5 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.4 steals and 3.5 assists.
A highly sought-after Division I recruit, Mercer is drawing attention from the major conferences -- including the ACC. She received 11 first-team votes from a panel of 22 sports writers statewide.
Rosewood shared the Carolina Conference regular-season championship with Lakewood. The Eagles (23-4 overall) won back-to-back league titles for the first time in program history.
