RALEIGH -- Freshman Meredith Burroughs smashed her first-ever collegiate grand slam home run during N.C. State's 9-4 victory against No. 8-ranked Florida State on Saturday afternoon.
Burroughs belted the homer -- her only hit of the game -- in the fifth inning. The Charles B. Aycock alum has swatted eight home runs this season.
"It felt awesome," Burroughs said. "It's always good to do something to help the team. I didn't want to let my team down, so I just tried to put a good swing on the ball."
Burroughs had three hits in the three-game series.
FSU took the first two games 10-1 and 6-5.
