MOUNT OLIVE -- Jason Morozowski swatted two home runs and No. 22-ranked University of Mount Olive completed its three-game sweep of Conference Carolinas newcomer Emmanuel (Ga.), 13-9, on Sunday afternoon.

Morozowski has 11 home runs and 48 RBI this season.

Joe Koehler added three hits and two RBI for the Trojans, who climbed to 13-4 in conference play -- 11/2 games behind league-leading Erskine (S.C.). The teams meet for a pivotal three-game series Friday and Saturday at Due West.

Mount Olive (24-9 overall) seized command with a 10-run, first-inning outburst against the Lions on Sunday. Justin Manning plated the initial run with a double up the middle. Koehler connected on a two-RBI double off of the center-field wall.

The surge continued and included Morozowki's first homer -- a two-run shot over the left-field wall. Morozowski mashed a solo home run in the third inning.

Emmanuel (4-26 overall, 3-18 CC) chipped away at the lead and climbed to within 11-9 through 81/2 innings. UMO pinch-hitter Brandon Day put the game out of reach with two-out, two-RBI single.

Kodi Whitley (6-2) earned the mound win with an eight-hit, one-strikeout effort in five innings. Hunter Barnett, Dario Santangelo, Ethan Horne, Jose Serrano combined for four innings of 12-hit, three-strikeout relief.

UMO swept a league opponent for the fourth time this season.

In Saturday's doubleheader, Gunnar Kines broke the single-game school record for strikeouts (18) in an 11-0 shutout of the Lions in the opener. He surpassed the previous mark (15) set by B.J. Dail against Limestone in 2009.

Kines (6-1) allowed just two hits and issued two free passes in an eight-inning stint. Carlos Rodriguez threw the ninth inning.

Koehler (four RBI) and DeAndre Allen (RBI) provided two hits apiece. Morozowski and Kilgore Gailmard each supplied two RBI.

In game two, Derek Justice (5-1) and Brighton Hudson combined for a four-hitter. Hudson, a freshman from Garner, retired two Emmanuel batters on strikeouts in one inning of relief.

Gailmard emerged as the offensive leader with three hits. Koehler batted 2-for-4 with three RBI. Morozowski, Orrison and Rob Shipman drove in two runs apiece.

Before their series with Erskine, the Trojans face St. Augustine's in Cary on Wednesday. Game time is 6 p.m. at the USA National Baseball Training Complex.
