Preps digest: JV, middle schools news

* Baseball: C.B. Aycock 11, North Lenoir 3 -- Sophomore Bradley Pate batted 3-for-4 and Luke Frederick drove in a team-high three runs for the Golden Falcons. Freshmen Nick Aycock (RBI) and Blake Gipson cranked out two hits apiece. Freshman Caleb Matthews, sophomore Christopher Turner (two RBI), freshman Nolan Harrell (two RBI) and freshman Cody Whaley (two RBI) each had one hit. Jordan Gray started struck out three of six batters he faced on the bump in two innings. Trey Jordan permitted one earned run on four hits and logged five strikeouts during the final five innings.
Middle schools
* Softball: Wayne School of Engineering 11, Mount Olive 0 -- Marcy Taylor struck out eight hitters and drove in two runs on three hits for WSE. Nikki Olmsted, Taylor Lane, Dakota Jones and Riley Howell each had two hits and drove in at least one run apiece. Garyn Taylor finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. WSE plays Rosewood today.
