Gators' McCollum finishes 8th in shot put at 1A/2A state indoor track meet

WINSTON-SALEM -- Spring Creek senior Rachel McCollum wound up eighth overall in the shot put during the season-ending N.C. High School Athletic Association Classes 1-A/2-A women's indoor track championships.
McCollum logged a distance of 34 feet, 1 inch.
On the men's side, Rosewood senior Tyree Chavious placed 13th in the shot put with a mark of 42 feet, 3 1/4 inches.
Princeton's foursome of Jamie Pearce, Hunter Mitchell, Jarrett Pearce and Jose Augillon claimed 14th in the 1,600 relay with a time of 3 minutes, 50.92 seconds.
