Rosewood dominates Carolina/Coastal 10/Two Rivers wrestling tournament

PRINCETON -- Ten Rosewood grapplers secured gold medals during the season-ending Carolina/Coastal 10/Two Rivers 1-A wrestling tournament contested at Princeton High School.
The Eagles amassed 151 points, giving them their 19th conference tournament championship in program history. It's the 18th time Rosewood has achieved the "double" -- the regular-season and tournament crown in the same year.
Tanner Smith (106 pounds), Malique Boyd (120), David Dotson (126), Sam Drew (138), Evan Reiss (152), Kaleb Smith (170), Josh Drew (182), Garner Beasley (195), Rayquon Jones (220) and heavyweight Kaleb Taylor each placed first in their respective weight class.
RHS teammates Reid Amodeo (113), Jayden Thomas (132) and Cam Helt (160) each claimed second place. Joseph Waters wound up third at 145 pounds.
Tarboro, which had two individual champions, finished a distant second in the five-team title chase with 56 points. Manteo collected third with 46 points, followed by Princeton (29.5 points) and Neuse Charter (25).
Princeton's Mike Daughtry seized the 132-pound title. Fellow Bulldogs Martin Bayles (138) and Nick Phillips (145) each finished second on the day.
