Goldsboro's boys finish 3rd in Rosewood Polar Bear meet

Goldsboro boys finished third overall in the Rosewood Polar Bear contested Thursday afternoon.
Antonio Futrelle led the Cougars with second place in the long jump (19-2). Sterling Dodson placed third in shot put and Jamal Gaddy finished second in the 55-meter dash. Shemar Mitchell also had two second-place finishes as the Cougars tallied 68 points.
Rosewood took fourth in the boys with 51 points, led by Dalton Farmer who won the 3,200- and 1,600-meter runs. Farmer was the only Eagle to win an event. Tyree Chavious finished second in the shot put.
Southern Wayne finished fifth with 48 points and Princeton had 33 points -- good for sixth. Lakewood rounded out the scores with 15 points.
Amone Brown won the girls' 500-meter run for Southern Wayne to lead the Saints to a fourth-place finish with 48 points. The Saints also won the 3,200 relay.
Princeton was led by Megan Evans, who won the 3,200 run in 15:12.
C.B. Aycock's Rachel Boulanger won the pole vault for the Golden Falcons.
