CENTRAL, S.C. -- Katie Batson broke a scoreless tie in the 34th minute and University of Mount Olive rolled to a 4-0 victory over Conference Carolinas newcomer Southern Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Batson scored on assist from Nichole Poppe.
Poppe, Jess Hickey and Hannah Kirk each provided an unassisted goal for the Trojans, who improved to 6-11-1 overall and 4-6-1 against conference opposition this season.
UMO owned a 23-4 advantage in shots.
Men's soccer
CENTRAL, S.C. -- Conference Carolinas newcomer Southern Wesleyan tallied goals within five minutes apart and handed University of Mount Olive a 2-0 loss on Saturday afternoon.
Alejandro Sanchez and Christian Taylor found the back of the net in the 50th and 55th minute, respectively. Each score was unassisted.
SW led 19-10 in shots. Mount Olive keepers Nick Bernsdorf and Jared Miller combined for seven saves.
The Trojans (5-10-3 overall) fell to 3-6-1 in league play this season.
Volleyball
MOUNT OLIVE -- Montgomery Register, Sarah Watkins and Danielle Plante posted seven kills apiece in University of Mount Olive's 26-24, 18-25, 12-25, 14-25 loss to Conference Carolinas foe King (Tenn.) University on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans finished with 37 kills.
Aubrey McKinney and Samantha Winfield combined for 30 assists. Alysha Burnett and Casey Feichter each recorded 12 digs on defense.
Register, Robertson and Britni Johnson each registered double figures in kills during the Trojans' 18-25, 22-25, 25-18, 24-26 loss to in-state conference foe Lees-McRae on Friday evening.
Prior to the match, UMO honored its two seniors -- Robertson and Dezirae Mackey. Robertson and Register logged 13 kills apiece, while Johnson supplied 11. Mackey collected seven kills and three blocks.
McKinney and Winfield combined for 48 assists.
Fiechter led the Trojans' defense with 17 digs. Burnett had 15 and Johnson supplied 12.
