SALEMBURG -- Despite being down five starters, Carolina 1-A Conference opponent Lakewood gave Rosewood a true test for about 45 minutes Thursday evening.
Then the lights went out.
The power outage at Lakewood allowed Rosewood to survive a 2-1 dogfight.
"We didn't play well at all," RHS coach Eddie Maldonado said. "We just didn't look very good. We had Ethan (Chapin) and Zach (Barnes) to run stuff down up top, but we just wanted to pop everything up and kick everything in the air."
Barnes tallied the second goal and assisted on the first one, which was scored by Marquail Almontaser.
"If we would have played the full game they probably would have beat us," Maldonado said.
Rosewood plays to North Duplin on Monday.
