Mooneyham, Gregory, Biggins, Atwood each earn all-ECC accolades

WINTERVILLE -- Seven of 14 Charles B. Aycock runners set personal bests during the boys' portion of season-ending Eastern Carolina Conference 3-A/4-A Championships meet ran at Boyd Lee Park on Thursday.

The Golden Falcons were led by Joseph Mooneyham, who earned All-Conference honors with a seventh-place time of 18:27. Hunter Crane and Cameron Sims each knocked more than a minute of their personal bests.

Brandon Biggins of Southern Wayne finished fourth with a time of 18:17, while teammate Cole Atwood placed ninth 18:36. Each earned all-conference honors.

Zach Barnes emerged as Eastern Wayne's top runner with an 18th-place effort of 19:18. Teammates Kyler Sprague (21:05) and Noah Bernard (21:14) crossed the finish line 42nd and 43rd, respectively.

New Bern's Marcellous White won the individual race with a time of 17 minutes, 12 seconds and the Bears took first place as a team with 39 points. D.H. Conley finished second with 49 followed by South Central (70), Southern Wayne (105), C.B. Aycock (143), Eastern Wayne (163) and J.H. Rose (165).

Sarah Gregory finished ninth for CBA on the girls' side with a time of 22:57, knocking nearly two minutes off the personal best she set last week at Boyd Lee Park. Gregory also earned all-conference honors with her performance.

Eastern Wayne's Tricia Malcolm placed 22nd in 25:10. Southern Wayne's Dixie Ramirez posted a 25th-place time of 25:51.

South Central twins Chloe and Claudia Cox took first and second, respectively. They finished 17 seconds apart from each other.

New Bern claimed the team championship with 33 points. D.H. Conley (48), South Central (68), J.H. Rose (99), C.B. Aycock (145), Southern Wayne (173) and Eastern Wayne (193) completed the team scoring.
