Lakewood eliminates Rosewood from Carolina 1A volleyball tournament

SALEMBURG -- Regular-season champion and top-seeded Lakewood defeated Rosewood 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 in the semifinals of the Carolina 1-A Conference tournament Tuesday evening.
Lexi Mercer and Ashley Thornton combined for 19 kills. Mercer added five blocks.
Ada Rivera notched 17 assists and Callie Thornton had 15 digs.
Rosewood (13-11 overall) hopes to receive an at-large berth to the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs, which begin Saturday.
