* Football: Goldsboro 44, South Lenoir 14 -- Emond Bufkin ran the opening kickoff back and Goldsboro never looked back on its way to a 44-14 win over South Lenoir Thursday. Jacob Owens caught a 64-yard touchdown pass. Aaron Smith had three carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns. KJ Alston caught a touchdown and Jameel Larkins ran for a score.

* Boys' soccer: Wayne Country Day 3, Greenfield 0 -- Wayne Country Day won the Conference Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference title with a 3-0 win over Greenfield on Thursday. Drew Barnes scored two goals and had an assist. DJ Drew added a goal and Nehemiya Shaw had an assist.

* Volleyball: North Lenoir 2, Goldsboro 0 -- Courtney Carmon had four kills to lead North Lenoir to a 25-4, 25-16 win over Goldsboro on Thursday. North Lenoir is 11-9 overall.

* Volleyball: North Duplin 3, Rosewood 0 -- Haley Brogden had eight kills and six aces to lead North Duplin to a 25-16, 23-25, 25-23 win over Rosewood on Thursday. Anna Lee Thornton added nine assists. The Rebels are 4-10 and 3-9 against Carolina 1-A schools.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Rosewood 3, Norwayne 2 -- Rosewood remained undefeated with a 25-17, 12-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-6 win over Norwayne on Thursday evening. Jessica Graham had four aces and one kill. Rosewood travels to Spring Creek on Monday.

* Football: Dillard 48, Eastern Wayne 0 -- Xzavier Bowden had touchdowns of 60 and 30 yards to lead Dillard to a 48-0 romp over Eastern Wayne Thursday. Tavian Jackson, Naz'Jelle Wooten and Jy'Keis McLean each had a rushing touchdown. Elijah Hinnant returned a fumble for a score.

* Football: Spring Creek 14, Norwayne 0 -- Javon Newsome ran a six-yard touchdown and Landon Smothers scored from a yard to give Spring Creek a 14-0 win over Norwayne on Thursday. Dominique Morse had six tackles and an interception and Jaylen Garner added five tackles as well. Spring Creek is 4-1 on the year.

* Volleyball: Greenwood 3, Mount Olive 1 -- Alana Kazar had five kills and three aces to lead Greenwood to a 25-20, 24-26, 25-10, 25-22 conquest over Mount Olive on Thursday. Alyssa Jackson and Christina Warren had three kills each. Yuka Akiyama had three digs for the Lady T-Birds. Greenwood is 5-5 and travels to Brogden on Monday.

* Soccer: Greenwood 4, Mount Olive 3 -- Tyler Scott had two goals in a 4-3 overtime win over Mount Olive on Thursday. Lavelle Avery and Axel Ortiz scored the other two goals. Javon Labella had four saves in goal. Green is 5-5 and travels to Brogden on Monday.

* Football: Mount Olive 30, Brogden 12 -- Jamari Leach led the Chargers with three rushing touchdowns in Mount Olive's 30-12 win over Brogden on Thursday. Tayler West added another score on the ground. Mount Olive will host Greenwood on Thursday.
