Wayne Country Day clinched a share of its third-consecutive Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference championship with an 8-1 romp over short-handed Greenfield on Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights had just four players, which led to two forfeits in singles play and one in doubles.
Anna Allen, Taylor Gumbish and Aimee Barnes each notched a straight-set singles win for the Chargers. Gianna Democko-Taylor Willman and Eliza Eagles-Margaux Pope each prevailed in doubles action.
Wayne Country Day (15-1 overall, 3-0 CPIC) concludes league play Thursday at Freedom Christian Academy. The Chargers will celebrate senior day at home next Tuesday against Trinity of Raleigh.
