RALEIGH -- The top-seeded tandem of Jennifer Potts-Taylor Willman triumphed at No. 1 doubles and lifted Wayne Country Day past Trinity of Raleigh, 5-4, on the Millbrook Exchange Park courts.

Potts-Willman defeated Trinity's Kylie Rigsby-Anna Duggins 8-4.

"Jennifer and Taylor were clutch down the stretch," WCDS head coach Mark Phillips said.

Potts, Allen, Eliza Eagles and Taylor Gumbish each picked up a singles point for the Chargers.

The teams played eight-game pro sets.

Wayne Country Day (12-1 overall) is the guest of Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference archrival Greenfield on Thursday. First serve is 4 p.m. on the Barton College Tennis Complex courts.
