Preps digest: JV, Neuse River Youth football, middle schools

JV

* Boy's soccer: Wayne Christian 3, Freedom Christian 2 -- Wayne Christian exploded for three second-half goals during a non-conference victory Monday afternoon. Holden Foster punched in two goals, while Skyler Price found the back of the net twice. Jaxon Anderson handed out three assists. The Eagles (5-1-0 overall) conclude their regular-season schedule at home Oct. 2 against Christ Covenant.

* Volleyball: East Duplin d. North Lenoir 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 -- Allison Montague recorded three kills. The Hawks scored 11 points when Montague, Janna Moore (eight points) and Kelsie Stocks (seven points) each toed the service line. North Lenoir is 7-6 overall.

* Volleyball: Crossroads Christian d. Wayne Country Day 25-9, 25-9 -- The Chargers entertain Freedom Christian today.

* Volleyball: North Johnston d. Goldsboro 25-12, 25-12 -- Tawanna Jones led the Cougars with three kills.

Neuse River YFL

* 8-Under: Boys Club 24, Mount Olive 6 -- Zavian Oates rushed for two 60-yard touchdowns in the road win. Darius Robinson and Jamere Dewitt tallied TDs on runs of 40 and 50 yards, respectively. The Boys Club returns to action Saturday at Charles B. Aycock.

Middle schools

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Norwayne 19-25, 25-28, 25-15, 25-11 -- Jessica Graham served seven aces and logged two kills for the Eagles. Rosewood (4-0 overall) is the guest of Greenwood on Thursday.

* Volleyball: Wayne Christian d. Cape Fear Christian 25-7, 25-8 -- Emma Anderson served 15 consecutive aces in the opening set and 19 overall for the Eagles. WC scored 12 straight points with Payton Jackson (one ace) on serve on the second set.

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Eastern Wayne 21-25, 25-22, 27-25, 23-25, 15-11 -- Amanda Haggerty led the Gators with three kills. Mikayla Price and Madison Sullivan had one kill apiece. Spring Creek (2-2 overall) picked up its first Wayne County Middle School Athletic Conference Division I in three tries this season.
